No Excuse For Those Thinking Or Assuming They're On Guidance

Is he who is on a clear proof from his Lord, like those for whom their evil deeds that they do are beautified for them, while they follow their own lusts (evil desires)? (Muhammad 47:14)

While as for those who accept guidance, He increases their guidance, and bestows on them their piety. (Muhammad 47:17)

[West London Dawah] The Errors and Slips of the Scholars‏

Translated by Abdulilah Lahmami
4/3/1433 - 25/2/2012
Sheikh Al-Islam Ibnu Taymiyyah [d.728H] rahimahullaah said:
And whoever is known for being truthful in the Ummah such that he is praised amongst different people in the Ummah (young and old, far and near) then they are the scholars of guidance. They are those lanterns giving light amidst darkness and their mistakes are few compared to their correct positions. Most of their errors are from the affairs where ijtihaad (striving to make a ruling in matters of fiqh and branches of the religion) is permitted. They are excused (for not intending to err where the error is rejected but honour of the scholar is upheld). They are the ones who follow knowledge and justice, far away from ignorance, oppression, conjecture and what the souls desire. [Majmu' al-Fataawa: 11/423].
Haafidh adh-Dhahabi [d.748H] rahimahullaah said: "indeed the elder from the scholars of knowledge, if in most cases he is correct and his striving in reaching the truth is known, his knowledge becomes vast, his intelligence becomes apparent, his righteousness and fear of Allaah and following (the sunnah) is known then his slip/error is forgiven. We do not consider him misguided and (end up) leaving him and forgetting his good. Yes: we do not follow him in his innovation and mistake, rather we hope for repentance from that." [Seer 5/271]
Ibnul Qaiyyum [d.751H] rahimahullaah said: Whoever has knowledge of the legislation and the reality is known without doubt that the honourable person who has clear signs of righteousness and is known for his status in Islam and amongst the people. If he has an error and slip (in matters of permitted ijtihaad), he is excused, rather rewarded and it is not allowed for him to be followed for that error. It is not allowed to remove his position and status as imam and level from the hearts of the Muslims. [I'laam Al-Muwaqi'een (3/295)]
Sheikh 'Ali Nasr Al-Faqeehi said:
As for the mistaken one in some of the matters (of the religion), the one who is known for his menhaj (correct methodology), his praiseworthy manner and Islamic legislated knowledge, then his mistake does not remove his status nor reduce his rank. If he is alive, then it is a must to clarify to him the mistake in a wise manner that which is known between the scholars based upon cooperating in accordance with righteousness and piety because religion is advice.
You put the advice to the student of knowledge based upon his status with good manners and respect showing the truth with its proof not in an aggressive manner and not arrogantly towering over the person haughtily. Rather with wisdom and beautiful preaching. This is what is sought from the advice. The unity is kept and love and brotherhood for the sake of Allaah remains for indeed the believers are brothers.
If the mistaken one has returned to his Lord (passed away) then he is to be supplicated for as perfection is for the Prophets alone. The mistakes of other than the prophets are clarified to the people so that the people don't follow their mistakes in those matters. [Al-Bid'ah Dhawabidtuha wa Atharuha as-Sayi'fil Ummah p.24]

Fundamentals in the Manhaj of the Salaf, by Abu Hakeem Bilal Davis

Fundamentals in the Manhaj of the Salaf (Part 1)

Excerpt:

Manhaj

The term 'Manhaj' (also minhaaj, translated Methodology) is the clear-cut path laid down for the Muslim, by way of which one understands all aspects of the religion and implements them, not in accordance with his own understanding, but in accordance with this pristine crystal clear methodology. Thus the methodology is a path that is followed in the implementation and understanding of all aspects of the religion, the framework by way of which we approach applying the deen.

Minhaaj in the Qur`an

Allaah, the Most High, mentions:

{ لِكُلٍّ جَعَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ شِرْعَةً وَمِنْهَاجًا }

To each among you we have prescribed a law and a clear way (minhaaj) (Suratul Maa`idah, Vs 48)

Ibn Abbas – Radiyallahu 'anhumaa mentioned: "a Way and a path"

Here we see Allaah the Most High informs us that every nation was given a law and was given a clear path to follow. The manhaj of this Ummah is the Manhaj of its Salaf.

Fundamentals in the Manhaj of the Salaf (Part 2)

Excerpt:

Salaf in the Sunnah

No doubt from the clearest of the texts of the sunnah mentioning the term Salaf is an authentic hadeeth wherein the Prophet – Sallallahu 'Alaihi wa Sallam – referred to himself as a blessed salaf for his daughter and – it follows – [for] the rest of the Ummah in general. [When] The Messenger – Sallallahu 'alaihi was Sallam - was ill prior to him passing away, his daughter Fatimah – Radhiyallaahu 'anhaa – came to his bedside and the Messenger of Allaah whispered to her twice. When he did so in the first instance, she began to weep, then when he whispered on the second occasion she began to laugh. 'A`isha – Radiyallaahu 'anhaa asked her about that and Fatima refused to divulge the secret that the Messenger gave to her that brought about this weeping and laughter. After the death of the Messenger – Sallallaahu 'alahi Was Sallam - she informed her that now I will inform you so she said:
The Messenger – Sallallaahu 'alaihi was Sallam – said: Indeed Jibreel used to listen to my recitation of the Qur`aan once a year, and he has now (i.e. this year) done so twice, and I do not see except that my appointed time is close, so fear Allaah and be patient for indeed I am a blessed 'Salaf' (Predecessor) for you." (Collected by Bukhaari (5928) and Muslim (2450))

She explained to her that this was what caused her to weep in the first instance and that the Messenger – Sallallaahu 'alaihi was Sallam - then informed her that she would be the leader of the female believers or the leader of women of this Ummah, and so she laughed.

Thus here we see the Messenger refering to himself as a 'Salaf', thus just as one refers to himself as 'Sunni' (follower of the Sunnah) the Muslim likewise refers to himself as 'Salafi' (follower of the Salaf) and what a blessed ascription!

Fundamentals in the Manhaj of the Salaf (Part 3)

Excerpts:

Clinging to the way of the Salaf, was from the Manhaj of the Salaf!

A question that must arise when one calls to the way and methodology of the Salaf is:

'Was it from the manhaj of the Salaf..to call to the manhaj of the Salaf?'

Hopefully the following narrations will bring clarity to this issue.

Upon the Authority of 'Abdullaah Ibn Mas'ood – Radiyallahu 'Anhu - who said:
"Indeed we follow (i.e. the prophet and those who preceded us) and we dont initiate, we imitate (i.e. the prophet and those who preceded us) and we dont innovate, and we will never go astray as long as we hold on to that which they have left." (Collected by Imaamud Daarimi in his 'Sunan/Musnad' (205) and Ibn Nasr in 'As Sunnah' (28) and At Tabaraani in 'Mu'jamul Kabeer' 8770)

Upon the Authority of Ubai Ibn Ka'b – Radiyallaahu 'Anhu - who said:
"Cling to the Path (The Sabeel) and the Sunnah for indeed there is no servant upon the path (sabeel) and the Sunnah who remembers Allah and his eyes shed tears due to fear of Allah, that will ever enter the fire. Certainly moderation upon the Sunnah and that which is good, is better than striving (hard) in opposition to the Path (Sabeel) and the Sunnah."(Collected by Al Lalakaa`ee (1/87) and Al Khateeb in 'Al Faqeeh wal Mutafaqih' (1/147))

Upon the authority of 'Uthmaan Ibn Haadhir Al Azdi – Rahimahullah - who said: I entered upon Ibn 'Abbaas – Radiyallaahu ‘anhumaa – and said "Advise me," so he said: "Remain Upright, Follow and do not Innovate, Follow the narrations of the first generation and do not innovate." (Collected by Ibn Nasr in ‘As Sunnah’ (29) and by Ibn Battah in ‘Al Ibaanatul Kubraa (157,158,200))

Muhammad ibn Seereen said: "They used to say, If a man is upon (following) the narrations (i.e. of the Salaf) then he is upon the path." (Collected by Ad Daarimi (140, 141) and Al Khalaal in ‘As Sunnah’ (1102))

Abul 'Aaliyah said: "Cling to the first affair that they (i.e the Salaf) were upon before they (the Muslims) began to split (i.e. into groups and sects)." (Collected by Abu Nu'aym in 'Al-Hilyah' (2/218) and Al Marwazi in 'As Sunnah' (26))

Q&A Session with Shaykh Falaah bin Ismaeel al-Mundakaar ~ DuSunnah

Q&A Session with Shaykh Falaah of Kuwait, check the list of 45 questions here.

Women & Family in Islam & Role-models for Every Muslimah

My dear beloved sisters, abandon the tabloids and gossip periodicals whose content obsessively follows the every movement and statement of the non-prestigious, worthless female celebrities and their counterparts. O Muslimah, you are too precious to even consider imitating such lowly women. Remember your worth and spend your time worshiping Allah, seeking knowledge, and reading the biographies of real women like the Sahaabiyaat and the righteous women of antiquity like Maryam and Aasiyah. Learn about the women mentioned in this Hadeeth and teach your daughters about them. The Messenger – SallAllahu Alaihi Was Sallam said:

"The best women of Jannah are four: Khadeejah Binti Khuwailid, Faatimah Binti Muhammad, Maryam Binti ‘Imraan and Aasiyah Binti Mazaahim the wife of Pharoah." [Collected by Imaam Haakim in his ‘Mustadrak’ (3836)]

The Description of the Worldly Women in Jannah

Bismillahi Wal hamdullillah Was Salaatu Was Salaamu ‘alaa Rasoolillahi

Ammaa Ba’d:

The following are some text related to the women of Jannah, and I intend by the women of Jannah here, the women from the women of the Dunya who were successful in making it to Jannah. Since in the texts of the Book and the Sunnah, we understand that the women of Jannah are of two main types, The women of the Dunya who were rewarded with Jannah (From Mankind and the Jinn), and: The Hoorul Een who have never been in the dunya but were created in Jannah for Jannah.

It should also be Known that from the worldly women that are rewarded with Jannah there are those who are superior to the Hoorul Een.

The messenger – Sallallahu Alaihi Was Salam said: “The best women of Jannah are four Khadeejah Binti Khuwailid, Faatimah Binti Muhammad, Maryam Binti ‘Imraan and Aasiyah Binti Mazaahim the wife of Pharoah.. )

(Collected by Imaam Haakim in his ‘Mustadrak’ (3836))

Concerning the Hadeeth Imaamul Manaawi states:

“..he mentioned ‘.. Women of Ahlul Jannah’ and he didnt (just) say ‘Women‘ to prove that they are more virtuous than (even) the Hoor (Al Een), otherwise it would be believed that he (only) intended the women of this world..”

Indeed from the scholars are those who held that the women of Jannah who were in this world and earned Jannah are all better than the Hoorul Een, since one was created in Jannah, while the other was rewarded with Jannah through their Imaan and righteous deeds and thus are superior.

So there are a number of characteristics mentioned concerning the women of Jannah who were women from the children of Aadam that were rewarded with Jannah after being in the dunyah.

From that:

Allah will purify them!

Allah the most high says:

“And give glad tidings to those who believe and do righteous good deeds that for them will be gardens beneath which rivers flow. Everytime they will be provided with a fruit therefrom they will say this is what we were provided with before and they will be given things in resemblance and they will have therein purified spouses and they will abide therein forever”

(Suratul Baqarah Vs 25)

Concerning the portion of the verse “..they will have therein purified spouses” Ibn Abbaas and Ibn Mas’ood said: “They will not have menses, neither will that defecate, urinate, break wind or have mucus.

Allah will ‘recreate’ them!

Concerning the statement of Allah the most high:

“Verily we will create them of special creation, and will make them virgins, Loving and playful (with their husbands) of equal age“

(Suratul Waaqi’ah 35-37)

concerning the first verse mentioned here Qataadah and sa’eed ibn Jubair mentioned: ” i.e We Have created them anew”

Ibn Abbaas mentioned: “He (Allah) intends here, Adamiyaat (that is, women from the children of Aadam, since some held that the intent with the verse are the Hoorul ‘Aen’)

That which brings clarity to this is the hadeeth of the messenger -Sallallahu Alaihi was Salam “Elderly women will not enter Jannah” Upon hearing this an elderly woman began to cry so the messenger of Allah said: “Inform her that on that day she will not be elderly rather she will be youthful For indeed Allah has said: “Verily we will create them of special creation..”

(Collected by At Tirmidhi and declared ‘Hasan’ by Shaikh Al Albaani in ‘Ghaayatul Maraam p215)

Concerning the statement: ‘Uruban..(Loving and playful (with their husbands)

Ibn Abbaas mentioned: “Passionate and emotional with their husbands and their husbands are passionate and emotional with them“

(Tafseer Ibn Katheer 7/533 – Darut Taiybah print)

They will be large Chested maidens

Concerning the statement of Allah

“Gardens and grapeyards, and young full breasted maidens of equal age..”

(Suratul Naba Vs 32-33)

Ibn Katheer mentions:” It was mentioned by Ibn Abbaas, Mujaahid and others concerning the statement of Allah: “Kawaa’iba Atraabaa ‘That is they will be Full breasted young maidens, due to the fact that they will be virgins, Loving and playful (with their husbands) of equal age (since the people of Jannah will be of one age) as has been clarified in (the explanation of) Suratul Waaqi’ah

(Tafseer ibn Katheer 8/308 (Dar Tayyibah Print))

They will have the most beautiful clear skin!

Upon the authority of Abu Huriaira who said the prophet – Sallallahu ‘Alaihi Was Salam Said (describing the beauty of women in Jannah): “..Her marrow is visable beneath her skin, and there are no bachelors in Paradise“

(Collected by Bukhaari and Muslim)

Concerning this description of her skin in the hadeeth Imaamul Iraaqi mentions in tarhu Tathreeb “..Her marrow is visable beneath her skin..” That is, from the extremely pure nature of her skin, one can see her marrow just as one can see the fine threads inside a very pure pearl..”

(Tarhu Tathreeb 9/226)

However this manifests, it will be beautiful!

They will continue to become more beautiful every friday….forever!

Upon the authority of Anas ibn Maalik who said that the Messenger of Allah – Sallallahu alaihi wa Salam said: “Indeed in Jannah there is a market that will be attended (by the inhabitants of Jannah) every Jumu’ah, wherein a breeze will blow upon them from the north, it will blow in their faces and upon their garments and they will increase in good looks and beauty (due to it). They will return to their families who would also have become more good looking and beautiful. Their families will say to them ‘By Allah! you have become more good looking and beautiful since you have left us! and they will say back to them: ‘And you By Allah have become more good looking and beautiful since we have left out!’

one version mentions at its end ’..and that is every Jumu’ah’

(Collected by Muslim in his ‘Saheeh’)

Their beautiful fragrance

Upon the authority of Anas Ibn Maalik – Radhiyallahu ‘anhu – who said that the Messenger of Allah – Sallallahu alaihi Was Salam – Said: “..If a woman from the women of Jannah were to appear in this world, that which is between (the heavens and the earth) would be filled with her (beautiful) fragrance.

Their Brilliance!

And they they would illuminate that which is between the heavens and the earth..“

The brilliant beauty of their garments alone

The previous hadeeth continues..

“.. The scarf that is on her head is better than the world and that which is upon it!”

(Collected By Tirmidhi (1651) and declared ‘Saheeh’ by Shaikh Al Albaani in Saheeh Sunan At Tirmidhi)

And as some of the salaf said: “If this is her scarf (or shawl) then what about her!. Think of All the tremendous beauty that is present in our present world and know that one of her accessories alone is better than it all!

This is just a portion of that which has occured concerning what is promised to her, that is not to mention all the other delights of Jannah that she will partake in alongside the men who enter.

Wallahu A’lam
